Melbourne Futsal League Round 1 – U13's

The under 13 component of the Melbourne Futsal League successfully kicked off last Sunday 16th November.

With the day hosted by Australian Futsal Group at Caroline Springs, all players and match officials were once again treated to a large crowd with plenty of vocal support for all teams.

The day started off with an explosive first match between Melbourne Reds and the Australian Futsal Group. The match was highly skillful and fast paced with AFG rallying with the home crowd to come from 2-0 down at half time to secure a 2-2 draw and a crucial point against a well disciplined Melbourne Reds.

The Victorian Lions also competed in there first competitive matches, starting off with a 6-3 win against Victory Fives Futsal Club.

From start to finish, the whole day provided plenty of skill, action and great enthusiasm for Futsal in general.

The Melbourne Futsal League is proving a positive step in the right direction for the sport in Victoria.

The Victorian Lions Futsal Club will host the next round of the Melbourne Futsal League on November 30th at Springers Leisure Centre.

MRFC Players Selected for VIC Squad

Congratulations to the following Melbourne Reds players on being selected to represent Victoria in the National Futsal Championships to be held in Canberra in January 2009.

Bryson Ng, Stefan Cardamone (GK), Lucas Spinella (GK), Reis Aygun, Jesse Mills-Warthold and Alexander Hrkalovic (Emergency).

We wish the boys well in their preparation for the competition and we will keep an eye on their progress. The boys will be competing in the U11 age group.

Reds Players Feature in SBS Video

Mariana Rudan travelled to Victoria to uncover the growing sport of Futsal, the indoor counterpart of the beautiful game, a pivotal component in the development of ball skill at an early age.

Melbourne Reds players featured strongly in the video and members of our State Championship U11 Rep Team, Charlie Bircham, Aaron Diplacido, Stefan Cardamone, Reis Aygun, Jesse Mills-Warthold, Dylan Vlahopoulos and Bryson Ng were all shown in the segment.

Bryson was also interviewed during the segment. We wish all remaining state team participants the best of luck with their final stages of selection.
